NS Weekend fee travel subscription
It helps Au pair to travel around Netherlands for free from Friday evening to Monday morning. Normally the monthly subscription fee of 36 euros is mostly paid by host family.
Museumkaart
Museumkaart is a must for all Au pairs. It helps to explore 450 museums in Netherlands for free for 1 year.
It can be ordered from Museumkaart website. It can also be bough at Museums. It cost around 75 Euros but many host families buy it for the Au pair.
Clothing
1) Visit biggest second hand fair in Europe - IJHallen. Its easily reachable by Free Ferry from Amsterdam train station. Its open only 1 weekend in a month. From Afternoon prices are very less. They sell for less than 5 euros.

Action shop is a good shop to buy personal care products. Action have shops and is also online.
Groupon is a online website from when you can buy articles, dinners, haircut, beauty treatments etc at discounted price.
SocialDeal is another website similar to Groupon. Both this sites ask to provide email and select your city when you visit first time.
Haircut
Nederlandse Kappersakademie provide haircut for 17 euros. Normally beauty schools provide service at lower cost as they need models to practise. Also check this facebook group as there are students looking for models; but be cautios of getting offer only from people with trusted facebook profile - Hair Models wanted
Bus travel
The private bus companies like Flixbus are much cheaper to travel than trains. Its possible to travel between few cities within and outside Netherlands with Flixbus
Hostel
Hotels are very expensive. An alternative accommodation is Hostels. Most hostels have girls only dorms. Hostels can be found on Hostelworld.com . Its possible to sort by price and filter by girls only dorms. Girls only dorms are safer for girls.
Food
While travelling around in Netherlands the food and drink is expensive. Take some food, water and make some sandwiches from home before you travel. Then you can avoid buying expensive food and drinks at train stations.
