Rematch
An Au pair normally do a rematch when situation at the host family home is not ideal. The following are the main reasons for rematch
Au pair is asked to work long hours than is required by law
Au pair is being used do do hard house hold jobs. It include cases like using Au pair as a full time cleaner and cook
Host kids physically attacking Au pair
Host parents always controlling the Au pair.
Few times rematch happens because the expectation of Au pair was different or Au pair had high expectation. Sometimes the issues can also be because of cultural differences.
1) If there is an issue Au pair can discuss with host family and try to solve it.
2) If that discussion did not help write an email to your agency explaining your situation. Agency could mediate to solve the problem.
3) If the mediation does not work agency could find another host family for you. The process of changing to another family is referred to as Rematch. Few agencies provide a temporary accommodation until you can find another host family.
4) If the agency is not able to help you need to do Rematch by yourself.
Au pair has the right to change the host family or change agency. Au pair can find a new family from Au pair websites or Au pair social media groups. They can also find a family through another agency. Important thing is that Au pair should always have an agency.
Residence permit is for 1 year. It doesn't mean that Au pair can independently go and work with any family for 1 year. Au pair has to be with an ind registered agency. (AupairWorld is not an Ind registered agency)
Since you are already in Netherlands its advisable to visit the new host family home and then make a selection.
It is ideal to give 2 weeks notice period when doing a rematch. Incase of serious issues notice period is not mandatory. Au pair does not have to give any financial compensation for doing rematch.
Do a rematch only if its necessary or if host family is not following the rules of the Au pair program. Host family have big financial loses when Au pairs leaves early or do rematch.
Abuses
Incase of abuses Au pair can inform the agency and if agency does not help its possible to contact the IND helpdesk for Au pairs. The number is 0610823594.
Another Scenario
Recently we have also noticed that Au pairs are rematching or moving to something else due to their pesonal interest. Some Au pairs rematch becasue they want to move from village to a city. Sometimes they rematch becasue their boy friend live in another city. Sometimes they quit Au pairing early becasue they want boyfriend to get them a partner visa. Sometimes they quit and move to Au pair in another country. For all this rematch scenarios Au pair do not give the correct reason for rematch and they always say they are overworked or put blame on host family. So it has now become more difficult to distinguish if an Au pair rematch due to overwork or due to personal interest. This can also be a huge financial loss for host family even if its not their fault.
